One person is behind bars after an alleged arson fire in Beltrami County.
According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office the blaze broke out just before 8:30 PM near the 700 block of Sunset Way in Northern Township, near Bemidji, Monday night.
When fire fighters arrived flames and heavy smoke were coming from the lower level of the home.
Everyone inside did manage to escape safely.
However, officers say one of the occupants displayed odd behavior.
As a result of further interviews, a 20-year-old man from Bemidji was arrested.
He was initially treated for smoke inhalation.
After being treated the man was taken into custody at the Beltrami County Jail, pending formal criminal charges.
Potential charges include: first degree arson, first-degree attempted Murder, and obstruction of legal process.
The incident itself remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Office
of Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
