#12 Hilltoppers advance to championship game in home holiday tournament

The No. 12 Duluth Marshall High School boys' hockey team advanced in its home holiday tournament on Thursday with a victory over Brainerd in the semifinal round at Mars Lakeview Arena.

The Hilltoppers won 3-2 over the Warriors.

Brainerd jumped out to a lead in the first period with a goal from Wyatt Andres

Hilltoppers Carter Sullivan would tie the game nine minutes later before the end of the first period.

Levi Stauber gave the Hilltoppers the first lead of the game in the second period with assists from Aiden Bachand, and Keelan Golat

But the third period would be the deciding factor. Despite a late rally from the Warriors and two goals scored by each team, the Hilltoppers held onto the lead.

Class AA's No. 12 Duluth Marshall will face Class A's No. 2 Hermantown in the Hilltopper Classic Championship game on Friday at Mars Lakeview Arena at 3:30 p.m.
