In what is considered a critical week for the ski and snowboard season, cold temperatures have hampered the numbers on the ski hills.
Officials at Lutsen say although Saturday and Sunday were strong, numbers from Christmas Day through Wednesday have been lower than average.
Giants Ridge and Mount Ashwabay have both seen a small decline in numbers.
Spirit Mountain closed their ski hill on Tuesday due to the weather conditions, but are now back open.
Due to intense and dangerous cold temperatures and wind chill factors, all ski hill operations are suspended for Tuesday, 12/26. Our plan is resume all operations as scheduled on Wednesday 12/27.— Spirit Mountain (@spiritmtduluth) December 25, 2017
