UPDATE: 911 restored in Cook and St. Louis Counties

UPDATE (2:50 pm) -- 911 service is working again throughout St. Louis County.

The outage occurred just before 7 am., and impacted Cook County, as well.


UPDATE (11:00 am) -- The St. Louis Co. Sheriff's Office says 911 lines are working again in most of St. Louis County. 

However, service remains out in the Virginia area.

Anyone in the Virginia area needing to report an emergency can reach St. Louis Co. 911 at (218) 625-3581. TXT to 911 is still working.


UPDATE (10:00 am) -- The Cook Co. Sheriff's Office has been notified that phone service, including 911, has been restored.

There is no update as of yet on the status of 911 in St. Louis County. 


911 lines are currently out in St. Louis County, as well as Cook County.

According to emergency management spokespeople in Cook Co., the preliminary investigation points to a failed switch in Duluth. It is unknown how long it will take to restore the service.

True North service to other True North users is working properly.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Century Link is working on the issue.

If you are unable to call, text to 911 is working. Only text if you are unable to call, and you are having a life-threatening emergency.

It is unknown how long the outage will be.
