GRAND RAPIDS, MN -

Former Grand Rapids standout Alex Adams has verbally committed to play Division I men's hockey in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) at Bemidji State University, he announced via twitter on Sunday.

"Proud to announce my commitment to play hockey at Bemidji State University," the tweet read. "Thanks to everyone who supported me along the way."

Following a 23-goal, 25-assist senior season for the Thunderhawks in 2016, Adams originally committed to play for Air Force Academy, which is coached by Coleraine, Minn. native Frank Serratore.

Adams, a forward,  has spent the past two seasons playing in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Minot Minotauros. In 21 games this season, he has seven goals and 10 assists.
