For the first time ever, five University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey players will represent Team USA in the IIHF World Junior Championship.
All five Bulldogs who entered USA Hockey's training camp made the third and final cut on Saturday morning, marking the first time that more than three Bulldogs will be on the U.S. National Junior Team.
That group is led by Joey Anderson, who is one of seven returners on the 23-man roster from last year's gold medal-winning team. He was also named captain of Team USA last Sunday.
He's joined by his brother Mikey, as well as UMD teammates Riley Tufte, Hibbing, Minn. native Scott Perunovich, and Hermantown, Minn. native Dylan Samberg.
Team USA will begin play in the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship on Tuesday, December 26 against Denmark. The tournament runs until January 5 in Buffalo, New York.
