Flags ordered at half-staff on Saturday in Minnesota to honor fallen firefighter

Governor Mark Dayton has ordered all United States and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff on state and federal buildings in Minnesota on Saturday in honor of a fallen Fire Captain.

Mayer Fire Captain Jeffrey Vollmer died suddenly on December 19th after a firefighter training session, and his funeral will be held on Saturday.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, parents, sister, step-brothers, and grandmother.

Vollmer was a second generation firefighter, and a 12 year veteran of the Mayer Fire Department.

The service will be held at Mayer Lutheran High School, and a visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, December 22nd at Freshwater Community Church in Waconia.

Visitation will also be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until the funeral.
