Five years ago, the nightmare of many parents became a reality.
On December 14, 2012, 20 children were shot and killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The gunman also killed six adults at the school and his mother, before taking his own life.
As the nation continues to remember those who lost their lives in this tragedy, the Twin Ports will come together to do the same.
Veterans for Peace, Protect Minnesota and other groups are holding a vigil Thursday.
