Not only will Joey Anderson likely get the chance to defend a gold medal with Team USA, he may get the chance to do so with his younger brother by his side.
"We've both spent time with USA hockey," he said, "and if we both get that chance at that level, it doesn't happen too often so we'd be excited."
Anderson is talking about the 2018 World Junior Championships, a tournament for which he and younger brother Mikey are on the United States' preliminary roster.
The older Anderson was on the team last year, helping the Americans win their first gold medal at the event since 2013.
"Anytime you get to represent the USA, it's a big deal," he said. "To potentially have that opportunity again this year is something I'm grateful for. Hopefully we can contribute, and I can help us win another gold medal."
Anderson has two goals and two assists this 2017-18 season for UMD.
