KBJR 6 has now learned that the wolf killed this fall for apparently showing no fear towards people was not a wolf-dog hybrid.
The DNR is still expecting necropsy results any day to determine whether it was sick.
DNR spokespeople say the complaints started in mid-October from workers at the Pokegama Railyard about a black wolf that wouldn't run from people, even when workers would blow the train whistle.
The wolf was eventually trapped, and was euthanized at the approval of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
It had not attacked any workers.
The wolf is on the endangered species list in Wisconsin, but officials were concerned relocating the wolf would cause problems elsewhere.
