Duluthians may have noticed the Paul Tregurtha turning around in the lake late Friday morning.
The ship turned away after the Aerial Lift Bridge stopped rising after it was about 40 feet in the air.
Officials say the bridge then re-leveled, and was able to fully rise after a few minutes, allowing the Tregurtha to safely enter the Port.
Bridge operators say no maintenance is required, and it isn't the first time the bridge has stopped lifting.
Operators said the bridge lifts when a ship is about a mile and a half out in order to detect any hiccups.
