The top-ranked University of Wisconsin women's hockey team scored two goals within the first four minutes of play on Saturday, leading to a 3-1 win and series sweep of the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) at LeBahn Arena in Madison, Wisconsin.
Brette Pettet got the Badgers on the board two minutes into the game, and Sophia Shaver doubled Wisconsin's lead two minutes later. That 2-0 lead stood until the eight minute mark in the third period when Wisconsin's Maddie Rolfes extended the lead to 3-0.
49 seconds later, though, Naomi Rogge scored her 10th goal of the season for the Bulldogs to avoid the shutout.
Wisconsin outshot UMD 41-17 as Jessica Convery made 38 saves for the Bulldogs.
UMD falls to (9-10-0) overall and (5-7-0) in WCHA play. The Bulldogs will continue their road trip next weekend when they face intrastate-rival No. 6 University of Minnesota on December 8-9.
