An overnight fire claimed the St. Mary's Mission Church in Red Lake.
Multiple fire departments worked together to battle the fire that leveled the Catholic church, built in 1888.
Firefighters responded during the early morning hours and remained on scene until about 6:30 a.m., according to the Alaska Volunteer Fire Department, which provided mutual aid.
According to a Facebook post by St. Mary's Mission School, the nearby school was not affected by the fire.
The fire is currently under investigation. There was no immediate word on what sparked the fire. No one was injured.
