The top-ranked Wisconsin women's hockey team put an end to the University of Minnesota Duluth's (UMD) four-game winning streak with a 5-1 rout of the Bulldogs at LaBahn Arena in Madison, Wis. on Friday.
The Badgers scored twice within 17 seconds halfway through the first period to lead 2-0 after 20 minutes of play. Wisconsin then added two more goals in the second period to lead 4-0.
Abby Roque scored her second goal of the game halfway through the third period to hand the Badgers a 5-0 lead. UMD's lone goal of the game came in the final seconds when Anna Klein scored her first goal of the season to end Wisconsin's chances at a shutout.
Wisconsin outshot the Bulldogs 31-29. Jessica Convery made 26 saves for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Kristen Campbell made 28 stops for the Badgers.
UMD falls to (9-9-0) overall and (5-6-0) in the WCHA for the season. The series finale will take place tomorrow at 12:07 p.m.
