Worlds Aids day falls on December first each year. It's an opportunity for people around the world to unite and raise awareness.
Here in the Twin Ports, several health and wellness organizations sponsored an expo in Duluth's Ordean building Friday night, to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic.
This event was a joint Twin Ports Collaboration raising awareness and providing community resources to the public.
It included a program to inform the public of the history of the disease and how it can be prevented.
Alisa Tomette, a member of the Memories Keeper Medical Discovery Team at UMD says, "It's important to me that the history of the epidemic not be lost. There have been so many changes and so much progress in the treatment of the disease now that I think that it's easy to forget how devastating the disease was at the beginning of the epidemic."
Health experts at the Expo say 205 people are living with AIDS across Northeastern Minnesota.
