DULUTH, MN -

For a third straight time in the playoffs, the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) volleyball team lost a 2-0 lead on Thursday night against Northern State in the NCAA Division II Central Regional quarterfinals.

In two of those matches, though, UMD has rallied in the fifth set to win. Thursday was no different, as the Bulldogs won the fifth 15-12 and will advance to Friday's semifinals.

Sarah Kelly led the way with 23 kills, while Kate Berg, Allison Olley, and Abby Thor all finished with 11.

UMD hit for a .239 percentage in the match, which was well below its NCAA-best season average of .293.

UMD, the region's No. 4 seed, will now to play top-seeded and host school Southwest Minnesota State. That semifinal match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday in Marshall, Minn.
