A vote on a bill that would do away with a moratorium on mining near the Boundary Waters is expected Thursday.
Earlier this month, a House committee passed the Minnesota's Economic Rights in the Superior National Forest Act, sponsored by Republican Congressman Tom Emmer.
The bill would eliminate a decision by the Obama Administration to revoke mining exploration leases from Twin Metals, which hopes to establish a copper nickel mine near the BWCA.
Supporters say the company should have a chance to apply for an environmental review.
Environmentalists say runoff from the mine could harm the Boundary Waters.
A vote was expected Wednesday, but was pushed to Thursday.
