Duluth East senior defenseman Luke LaMaster has made a verbal commitment to play Division I hockey for the University of Wisconsin, he announced Tuesday night via his Twitter account.
"Honored to announce my commitment to play college hockey at the University Of Wisconsin," the tweet read. "Thanks to everyone who has helped me!"
LaMaster scored six goals and had 10 assists last season as a junior, helping the Greyhounds reach the Section 7AA championship game.
He'll be the first Northland native to play for the Badgers since Hayward, Wis. native Podge Turnbull (2007-11) and the first Duluthian since Ross Carlson (2003-07).
LaMaster will be expected to join Wisconsin in either the 2018-19 or 2019-20 season.
