University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) senior goaltender Jessica Convery has been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) defensive player of the week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Convery, who backstopped UMD this past weekend to the Windjammer Classic championship, was also named the NCAA's No. 1 women's hockey star of the week.
She stopped 49 of 51 shots in two games, including making 25 saves in a 4-1 win over then-No. 2 Colgate. She was one of only three goaltenders in the country this past weekend to earn two wins.
Convery is now (9-6-0) overall this season with a 1.88 goals against average.
