DULUTH, MN -

You may have noticed some hairier than normal Duluth Police officers lately.

As a historic photo from 1892 shows, beards and mustaches used to be common for Duluth Police.

Since then, a rigid "no facial hair" policy has been enforced.

However, Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken, at the request of his staff, is relaxing that policy in November and December in an effort to raise money for area non-profits.

They're calling it "Hairy Holidays", and so far, more than 50 officers have helped raise more than $1,000.

On Tuesday, several officers will attempt to recreate this historic photo to help raise awareness for their cause.
