DULUTH, MN -

Cohasset, Minn. native and University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men's hockey sophomore Hunter Shepard has been named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) goaltender of the week, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

Shepard made 33 saves this past Saturday night, helping the Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over MSU-Mankato. The 33 stops were two shy of his career-best, and he also anchored a UMD penalty kill that went 3-for-3.

He's now made 10 straight starts for the Bulldogs and is (7-5-0) overall with a 2.44 goals against average this season.

It's the second time this season Shepard has won the weekly NCHC honor.
