If you're parking your car at UMD, or in Duluth's downtown, you won't have to plug the meter anymore.
"Park Duluth" is a new app available for download in the apple store and play store. With the app, those parking in Duluth can add additional time to their space from wherever they would like.
UMD underwent a soft rollout of the app Tuesday. They have already seen 240 downloads, and have more than 300 transactions.
Officials say this app will help downtown businesses, especially with Superior Street's potential upgrade.
"When we look at the free parking, we're really thinking about the reconstruction of Superior Street," says Greater Downtown Council president Kristi Stokes. "As we prepare for a reconstruction of Superior Street, we need to make parking accessible, we need to make it accessible for our businesses, and this is a great way to make that accessible, and easy."
UMD's campus has finished marking their meters. Duluth should finish up marking the city meters in the next couple weeks.
