Grand Rapids treatment center facing 20 violations

A follow up to a story we brought you on a Grand Rapids treatment center cited by the state. 

KBJR 6 reported the Department of Human Services cited Northland Counseling Center with 20 violations, more than half of them repeat violations. 

The violations range from book keeping of client and personnel files, to inadequate training at four recovery centers. 

Because of the violations, KBJR 6 reported the center was quote "in trouble with the state again", which the Northland Counseling Center says
mischaracterized the violations.

The state says the choice of words were the reporter's interpretation, but the facts of the story are accurate.

The state says the findings were not the most serious of violations.

A Grand Rapids-based treatment center is in trouble with the state again following a licensing review.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services cited Northland Counseling Center with 20 violations--more than half of them repeat violations.   

Those violations range from book keeping of client and personnel files, to inadequate training at four recovery center locations.

The centers offer chemical dependency services and inpatient and outpatient treatment. Some of the past violations date back from 2005 to 2007.

The Counseling Center has 20 days to request a reconsideration by the state.
