CSS Students take day off to make Northland better place

DULUTH, MN -

Students at the College of Saint Scholastica were taking a break from classes Wednesday to make a difference in the Northland.

It's all part of Fall Community Day, which sees hundreds of students, staff and faculty from CSS helping out area non-profits in a variety of ways.

About 35 students were at the Duluth Red Cross office Wednesday, writing and bundling holiday cards for service members, and veterans as part of the Holiday Mail for Heroes project.

"The whole day is given off to all the students and faculty,"  says CSS senior Ixayana Gonzales, "and [we're] encouraged to go out into the community and volunteer."

CSS also holds a Spring Community Day each February.
