Two avid chess enthusiasts faced off in Superior on Tuesday for the title of chess master.
Fourth grade student Maxwell Carey, and Superior Mayor Jim Paine were putting it all on the line at Bryant School.
Maxwell is the winner of the Superior Public Library Chess Class.
Mayor Paine says he has a chess board in his office, and practices when he finds the spare time.
In the end, Mayor Paine claimed the victory, but Maxwell is handling it like a true champion.
"I lost for one um I made a lot of moves where I didn't see where I was going and something else took me out and the mayor had good positioning the entire time," said Carey.
Dozens of students turned out to watch the match.
