Members of the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office will soon be issuing Narcan to people who overdose on opioids.
The Sheriff's Office says the medication is needed in the area due to the increasing amount of overdoses and exposure to opioids.
Authorities say heroin, fentanyl and carfentanil have caused concern among law enforcement and other emergency responders due to the risk of death of anyone who may become exposed to the drugs.
Officers of the Sheriff's Office, as well as members of police departments in the area, will begin training on administering Narcan on Monday.
Duluth Police currently utilize Narcan.
