Authorities have released the identities of the two people who were pulled from the water off Park Point on Thursday afternoon during a water emergency.
According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, the victims are Lily Fuglie, 10, of Hudson, Wisconsin, and her father, Ryan Fuglie, 38, of Osceola, Wisconsin.
The sheriff's office says most people who grow up here know not to go in the water when the weather is bad.
Authorities were first called about the two swimmers in distress around 4:30 Thursday afternoon.
According to the Saint Louis County Sheriff's Office, it wasn't long after that, that the swimmers could not be located.
After almost an hour in the water, it was around 5:15 that authorities pulled the young girl from the water. Rescue crews performed CPR on scene before she was taken to the hospital.
30 minutes later, the male victim was located and taken to the hospital.
At this point, it is still unclear whether or not the swimmers were alive when they were found.
The sheriff's office says a 12-year-old girl flagged someone down to call police after she lost sight of the two swimmers, adding that they started struggling with the rip tide, and went under.
The girls mother and step dad drove into town Thursday night from Hudson.
