Congressmen Rick Nolan and Tim Walz hosted a round table in Duluth this morning to discuss how to improve veteran's health care.
Their panel included representatives from the Minneapolis V.A. Itasca County Veterans services and health care professionals.
They focused on topics related to improving veterans health care in rural communities and agreed the process needs to be simpler, the care needs to be more accessible and there needs to be consistency across the programs.
Congressman Nolan said these meetings help the committee understand what veteran's need at the local level.
"It's incumbent upon us to make sure that the VA program and its services continue to be the best as is humanly possible and to the extent that we move toward this choice program that that too fulfill all of our veteran's expectations," he said.
Congressman Nolan is a member of the Congressional Veteran's Affairs Committee while Walz is the ranking member.
