Minnesota drivers should expect to spend more time at the DMV this week if you need a new license.
The agency says its Driver and Vehicle Services Division is replacing a computer system, which means services will be limited this week.
Online vehicle tab renewal and other DVS online services will be unavailable.
Officials say with a new system, turnaround is expected to be much faster and vehicle information will also be updated in real time.
"If you can imagine, you've got a computer at home, you probably updated in the last 10 years or whatever, this system is really of date, and needs to be updated. Bring us into the 21st century and will be state of the art with enhanced security," MN Dept. of Public Safety Dir. of Communications Bruce Gordon said.
The agency says once the system is up, expect longer lines until employees get up to speed.
