Duluth liquor stores can now open their doors on Sundays.
July 16 marks the first day Minnesota's new Sunday liquor sales law will apply to stores in Duluth.
While most of the state's Sunday sales went into effect on July 2, Duluth was forced to wait a bit longer.
City Council President Joel Sipress says that was because of a last minute provision that was added at the state level.
That provision required individual cities, like Duluth, to repeal their own municipal Sunday liquor sales ban if they had one in place.
Duluth Liquor stores are allowed to be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.on Sundays, but it's not mandatory.
