Teammates Amanda McGrory and Susannah Scaroni were neck-and-neck down the home stretch on Saturday morning, which was a bit unusual, but the race ended in what's come to be an expectation.
That's with McGrory crossing the line first.
"I don't think I've won eight times anywhere else," she said afterward, "so this is a special one for me."
McGrory and Scaroni officially finished with the same time, 1:40:42, but it was McGrory who edged out the win in the end.
It's her eighth Grandma's championship and her first since 2013. She won four straight from 2006-2009 and then three straight 2011-13. This one, though, she says might be the most special because of the close finish.,
"There is something special about this race," she said. "There is nothing quite like Duluth."
