Congressman Sean Duffy is asking the top leaders within the Department of Housing and Urban Development to investigate what he calls gross mismanagement of federal dollars by the LCO Tribal Governing Board.
In the letter to the federal office Thursday, Representative Duffy said the $800,000 was supposed to go towards mold remediation for 53 homes on the reservation, located in Sawyer County.
To date, he says only a handful have been remediated.
Duffy claims the LCO Chair has not provided the Congressman's office with any of the documents he has requested.
Last September, more than 100 LCO members petitioned Congressman Duffy requesting a forensic audit of all LCO tribal accounts and programs.
Representative Duffy is requesting the HUD Office of Inspector General immediately investigate and take any action necessary to help the tribal community.
