A 2009 document, showing an agreement between Enbridge Energy and the Fond du Lac Tribe for pipeline access, is stirring some controversy among tribal members of the Fond du Lac band.
The documents have recently been circulating on the Fond du Lac People's Forum Facebook page; some tribal members are questioning if the arrangement was made in the best interest of the Band.
Some are also asking how much money the Band was paid for the Enbridge access.
The 2009 resolution, approved by the Fond du Lac Reservation Business Committee, grants a 20 year right of way to Enbridge Energy, and approves an undisclosed settlement agreement.
The document reads that Enbridge got permission to construct liquid petroleum pipelines in addition to the four pipelines that were already crossing the Band's land.
We reached out to the Fond du Lac Band for reaction but had not heard back as of news time.
