The man who was convicted of kidnapping and killing 19 year old Katie Poirier, of Moose Lake, is back in Minnesota.
In 2000, Donald Blom was sentenced to life in prison without parole for first degree murder.
Blom, who was a registered sex offender with a long criminal history, kidnapped Poirier from a Moose Lake convenience store, where she was working, and took her to his property in Moose Lake.
Blom was sent to a maximum security prison in Pennsylvania.
In 2011 he was transferred to a medium security correctional facility in Pennsylvania that had special provisions for aging and ill inmates.
Blom has cancer.
As of now the 68-year-old killer has been quietly transferred to Faribault state prison in Faribault, Minnesota.
The medium security prison has a special unit for inmates who need substantial medical care.
