A Duluth woman jumped into action to save a fawn stuck in a storm drain off Mesaba Avenue.

Nervick says she came home Wednesday night to find a doe, in her front yard, stomping its foot, as if trying to get her attention.

That's when she discovered a tiny fawn had fallen through the storm sewer cover, with all four of its spindly legs stuck inside the iron grate.

She called Wildwoods for advice, put on rubber gloves and and carefully lifted the little one out of the grate.

"After, you're kind of in awe, that you encountered a wild animal. Especially a fawn. A little baby," Nervick said. "It was just tiny. It's little heart was beating. It sat in the grass and it's little ears perked up."

Nervick says this wasn't her first rescue of a wild animal.

She once came to the rescue of a bobcat.
