A Republican candidate has entered the race for one of the Duluth City Council's At-Large seats.
Jan Swanson announced her candidacy Friday.
Swanson says she has 25 years of sales experience. She's also worked as a case coordinator for Arrowhead Psychological Clinic.
Swanson says she wants to lower taxes and fees to create a business-friendly environment in Duluth.
She also wants to address opioid use in the city.
"My main priority is being accountable to the tax payer and working on the infrastructure," she said, "We have a opioid epidemic problem in Duluth. What I'd like to do is work with the Duluth Police Department more closely with that."
The primary election is on September 12.
