As parts of the Northland recover from heavy winds and floods, much of the rest of the country is still recovering as well.
That's why a volunteer from the local red cross has packed his bags to head down to Arkansas.
David Gearou said he'll be relieving workers in northern Arkansas, and helping victims of flooding there, find temporary homes.
He said he's been on close to two dozen of these trips since he started volunteering seven years ago.
For him, Gearou said it's all about making sure he can help anyone he can, get back to their normal lives.
"You're going to a place that has a disaster," he said. "They're outside their comfort zone now so anything we can do to help them get back to some kind of normalcy."
According to the Red Cross volunteers are typically on scene in two week shifts. They say they're not sending volunteers to Wisconsin yet, but may do so if victims still need help in the coming weeks.
