The Cloquet Middle School will have a new facility come this fall.
The Minnesota based commercial and real estate development company, Roers Investments, is planning to turn the 100 year old school into housing.
The updated project will have 57 units with 2-bedroom and studio apartments, a gymnasium and on-site parking.
The developers plan to use Historic Tax credits and resolution of support to apply for housing tax credits, to help pay for the renovation.
Spokespeople say they have no plans to request tax abatement from the city.
The Cloquet City Council approved developers to seek financing for the project Tuesday night.
