Lincoln Park Middle School and Piedmont Elementary gained an extra classmate for the day.
DFL House Representative and candidate for Governor, Erin Murphy, visited and toured the schools today.
After the tour she sat down with teachers, school administrators, and parents during a round table discussion.
The conversation surrounded early learning and the use of full-service community schools to close opportunity and achievement gaps in the state. Murphy has formerly authored a bill to provide universal, school based Pre-K.
Murphy believes education is an important investment not only for the community but for the state saying, "we understand in Minnesota that education is critical not only to the learning of our children but also to the economy of our state, for the quality of our workforce, and really for our way of life."
Murphy hopes that legislation will make funding education a top priority in the Minnesota.
