Michelle Alfini has been reporting in Duluth since June 2016. An avid writer and storyteller, Michelle has wanted to be a reporter since she was in third grade and is excited to be living that dream in northeastern Minnesota. She loves meeting people, hearing their stories and learning something new everyday.
Growing up in Annapolis, Maryland, this is Michelle's first experience with the Northland and its winters, but she's quickly fallen in love with living by Lake Superior and exploring the Northwoods.
Michelle graduated summa cum laude from Elon University in North Carolina, where her journalism work brought her to Rio de Janeiro to cover the relationship between the upcoming Olympic Games and the local human rights efforts, a dream come true for Michelle who loves anything to do with Latin America and the Olympics.
In her free time, Michelle is either singing, cooking or teaching herself a new language. So far she knows Spanish and Portuguese and is working on French and Arabic.
