MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Protesters kneeled outside of U.S. Bank Stadium before the Minnesota Vikings' game against the Baltimore Ravens. About 50 people took part in the demonstration Sunday while the national anthem played inside the Minneapolis stadium. The protesters say they want to raise awareness about shootings by police officers. Organizer Mel Reeves says the protest was not about the Vikings, the United States flag or the national anthem. He says it was about a "national problem."

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - For one Sunday, the fires that ravaged Santa Rosa and wiped out thousands of homes were an afterthought at Snoopy's Home Ice. In an ice rink built by Peanuts cartoon creator Charles Schulz, hundreds of 7- and 8-year-olds gathered to play the annual Great Halloween Jamboree tournament. It's a daylong hockey tournament that brought the community together after enduring the deadliest and most destructive wildfires in California history.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The University of Minnesota has named a longtime faculty member as the new dean of the medical school. University President Eric Kaler on Friday named Dr. Jakub Tolar to the top medical school post. His appointment needs approval from the Board of Regents. Tolar replaces Dr. Brooks Jackson, who held the job for three years. Jackson announced Monday he is leaving for a similar job at the University of Iowa.

(AP) - Some members of President Donald Trump's advisory commission on election integrity are raising concerns about its openness. Two members fired off letters to commission staff this past week complaining about a lack of information regarding the panel's agenda. That comes as Democratic U.S. senators are requesting a government investigation of the commission for ignoring formal requests from Congress. The commission's secrecy prompted a lawsuit by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
